Hardanger Embroidery

Our exquisite pieces of Hardanger embroidery were lovingly crafted by Grieg Lodge member Kristin Compton. A true heirloom art, Hardanger (or Hardangersøm) is a traditional Norwegian needlework style that originated in the Hardanger region. It combines delicate drawn-thread work, cutwork, and intricate satin stitches to create elegant, lace-like patterns—often in crisp white thread on white linen.

Kristin’s hand-stitched pieces reflect generations of craftsmanship and care. Timeless, beautiful, and uniquely Norwegian, these works are both decorative and deeply meaningful.
